The year is coming to a close: time to plan for the next one. So for more information on our plans and upcoming updates, read on!
So what's on our agenda?
Short term
• Investigate what we can do regarding game lag - we're currently looking into the database for items, system messages and a variety of things that have been suggested to us on the forums: we'll be doing what we can from our end to minimise lag - it's proving a tricky beast to slay but are actively looking into it as we write this!
• Bugs - getting both major and minor issues with game-play, text and technical matters reported, classified and ultimately fixed. While this will be starting in the short term, it will most likely be an ongoing process. This will also include refining the bug reporting process and providing you with a place to get more information on what the current issues are and where we are with them.
Long term
• Apply builds to bring our game completely in line with the Chinese version - Ensuring that you all have access to the features of the other game. Build 1.4.7 and 1.5 are currently scheduled for January 2012. What will be in these updates? You can take a look here. Exciting!
• For our German speaking players, we'll also bring the German version of the game completely in line with Chinese and English versions.
What can you do?
We know that there are still problems with the game. We also know that you are keen to report them to us. But for some significant bugs, we aren't getting enough detail or even any reports full stop. Judging from conversations with players in the forums, it seems there is a lack of faith in reporting bugs since there seem to be no direct or immediate response. Also, players naturally assume we already know about things they come across, which isn't always the case. As such, we don't get the information we need to test, classify and send to Ultizen for a solution. Which means the bugs don't get fixed, which means your game experience is worse, which means you lose faith in us and... The cycle continues.
We're as keen as you are that WoL is a fun and challenging experience. In order for us to provide you with this experience, we need you to help us with your bug reports when things aren't working as they should. We'd rather have 10 reports about the same thing that hear nothing about a problem that is bothering you.
We also need a bit more than 'X isn't working', even though that may be all that immediately springs to mind - examples of details that we need include dates and times that you attempted to use the content, any special circumstances and what server you are playing on and so on.
The more detail you can give us, the easier it is for us and the game developer to focus on what is going wrong and fix that. So, if you've reported something and it hasn't seemingly been looked at, report it again in response to this news post- chances are we didn't have enough information to check the problem.
What will we do in return?
Fix things where possible. Provide more transparency on what's being added and done in the game. Once major problems are fixed, we'll have more time to look at your suggestions and feedback for other areas of the game, such as sales or new content. This doesn't mean we haven't been considering them now because we have, but from what we have seen, many of you would rather have a smoother, more coherent game before adding in new content.
We're also looking into providing more ways for you to submit information to us: things we are considering include a way for you submit screenshots, bringing back the 'Bug Investigation' forum, which will include information on how to make effective bug reports, as well as updated lists of issues we know about.
How's that sound?
